Vickers Team Take On Brownlee Corporate Triathlon

Three members of the Vickers team recently took part in the 2015 Corporate Challenge from Brownlee Tri at Harewood House in Harrogate, finishing in a very respectable fifth place. The Vickers trio included Managing Director Steve Foster, Dave Butlin and Luke Constantine who endured a gruelling swim, cycle and run against a number of talented teams representing Yorkshire businesses.

The 2015 corporate challenge, organised by Olympic medalist brothers, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee was the second of its kind and proved to be a massive success with over 1600 attendants descending on the beautiful Harewood Estate in Harrogate, to spectate or compete in the event.

The triathlon involved a team relay whereby each team raced along a scenic route taking in the surrounds of the Harewood Estate and the Yorkshire countryside. Kicking off with an open-water swim in Harewood’s lake, this was then followed by a bike route along the same roads as last year’s Tour de France, before concluding with a gruelling 5.5km off-road run.

Managing Director, Steve Foster was delighted with the event and the enthusiasm shown from the team, “The response amongst the staff here to getting involved in the Corporate Triathlon was phenomenal. As a business, we have always been about individual excellence harnessed within a team environment, and competing in the event demonstrates the team-ethic we have here at Vickers.”

He continued, “We thought it would be great to try something completely different outside of work and thoroughly enjoyed the competitive spirit of the day. To finish fifth was a fantastic achievement and is something that we will certainly look to compete in again.”
