Taking Action for Employee Wellbeing at Vickers

Taking Action for Employee Wellbeing at Vickers

Posted By: CST Published: 11/05/2026

At Vickers, we believe our people are our greatest asset. Supporting the health and wellbeing of every employee is a fundamental part of our culture, and Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 provides the perfect opportunity to highlight the positive actions we take to create a supportive workplace.

This year's theme, Action, encourages everyone to take meaningful steps to improve mental health. At Vickers, we know that creating a positive working environment isn't about one initiative or one week of the year, it's about making wellbeing part of our everyday culture.

Putting Our People First

Everything we do is built around our people. From senior management through to our newest team members, we are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels safe, respected and supported.

Our collective standards guide the way we work, helping us to:

· Create healthy and safe workplaces.

· Promote fairness, respect and ethical business practices.

· Uphold strong labour and human rights standards.

· Make a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate.

We know that the success of Vickers depends on the dedication, ideas and commitment of our employees. That's why investing in their wellbeing remains one of our highest priorities.

How We Support Mental Health in the Workplace

Looking after mental health means taking practical action. We are proud to offer a range of initiatives that help support our employees throughout the year, including:

· A company-funded health plan, giving employees access to a range of healthcare and wellbeing services.

· Two dedicated Mental Health First Aiders, providing a confidential and supportive first point of contact for colleagues who may need someone to talk to or guidance on where to access further support.

· Wellbeing Events, giving employees dedicated time to prioritise their physical and mental wellbeing.

· Regular Safety Days, alongside interactive training sessions, learning opportunities and team-building activities that encourage collaboration, personal development and stronger workplace relationships.

These initiatives help us create an environment where conversations around mental health are encouraged, support is easy to access, and everyone feels valued.

Six Simple Ways to Support Mental Wellbeing at Work

Mental wellbeing is everyone's responsibility. Here are some simple ways we can all make a difference:

· Start conversations – Ask colleagues how they're doing and really listen to the answer.

· Take regular breaks – Stepping away from your desk can improve concentration, reduce stress and increase productivity.

· Stay active – Even a short walk during your lunch break can help improve your mood and energy levels.

· Use the support available – If you're feeling overwhelmed, don't be afraid to speak to a manager, one of our Mental Health First Aiders or access the wellbeing resources available.

· Celebrate achievements – Recognising individual and team successes helps build confidence and positivity.

· Look out for each other – Small acts of kindness and support can make a significant difference to someone's day.

A Year-Round Commitment

Mental Health Awareness Week is an important reminder of why wellbeing matters, but at Vickers our commitment extends far beyond a single week.

By continuing to invest in employee wellbeing, promoting open conversations and taking meaningful action every day, we're building a workplace where everyone can feel supported, empowered and able to thrive
