Zero Waste Week 2025

Zero Waste Week is a moment to reflect on how we operate, consume, and conserve. At Vickers, we’ve been making intentional choices to reduce waste and energy use across all three of our sites.

How we’re making a change

In our offices and factories, we’ve implemented waste segregation systems so that paper, cardboard, plastic, and glass are all recycled properly. This simple shift means far less ends up in landfill, and more materials get reused. For our industrial containers, empty IBCs and 200L drums are either returned to suppliers for reuse or collected by third-party contractors for recycling.

Over half of our workstations and laptops were purchased refurbished rather than new, cutting down on electronic waste and reducing our carbon footprint. And in our factories, smart plugs have been installed on equipment to ensure machines aren’t left running overnight. Scheduled “on” and “off” times help us save energy without sacrificing productivity.

Long Term Solutions

We’re also investing in long-term upgrades. At our main site, we’re replacing all fluorescent bulbs with energy-efficient LEDs, a move that will save an estimated 4.9MWh per year once completed in December 2025. And to keep our spaces warm more efficiently, we’re currently upgrading gas heaters to infrared heaters in our main factory, providing targeted warmth with lower energy consumption.

Zero Waste Week reminds us that sustainability is about progress. Every reused container, refurbished laptop and every watt saved is a step toward a cleaner, more responsible future. And we’re proud to be positively contributing to a more sustainable chemical industry.
